Hiratsuka City is scheduled to be designated as a tsunami disaster warning area in October.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is advancing the designation to strengthen evacuation measures in anticipation of the largest-scale tsunamis. Kanagawa Prefecture says the designation is scheduled for October and will clarify the heights of evacuation sites.
