Kanagawa Assembly Orders Merger of Miura and Yokosuka Electoral Districts
神奈川県議会 三浦市選挙区を合区へ 人口減で特例措置解消
The prefectural committee reviewing assembly member numbers decided on 7 September to forcibly merge the Miura City electoral district, which currently elects one member, into the Yokosuka City district, which elects four members, ahead of the next spring Kanagawa prefectural assembly election. The move responds to Miura’s population decline and the end of a special exception that had kept it separate. The committee is also discussing overall seat numbers and other district adjustments as it finalizes proposals for the upcoming election.
