Masaoki Unai, who served in the Yokosuka City Fire Brigade for 33 years and retired this spring, received a letter of appreciation from Yokosuka City on 9 September for donating heavy equipment. Unai has been active in promoting regional disaster response and community strength, motivated in part by a 2020 incident in Zushi City that cost the lives of high school students. The city praised his contribution as enhancing local capabilities for emergencies and recovery. The presentation recognized both his long service and the ongoing impact of his donation on community preparedness.
