Active firefighter 'Yanagita' urges middle schoolers to prepare for fire safety at prevention class

A ‘fire prevention class’ was held on 8 September at Yokosuka Municipal Fuiruto Junior High School, timed with ‘Disaster Prevention Day’ on 1 September. About 250 students from the whole school took part and learned how to protect themselves during a fire and ensure an orderly evacuation. An active-duty firefighter named ‘Yanagita’ spoke to the students, delivering practical messages about personal safety and preparedness to reduce risk during fires. The session aimed to strengthen students’ awareness and readiness for fire incidents.
