Yokosuka City and NTT East Begin AI Decision-Making Trial for Disasters

Under a wide-area disaster cooperation agreement signed in May 2025 by five municipalities on the Miura Peninsula and NTT East Japan, NTT East and Yokosuka City launched a public-private demonstration in 2026 to test AI tools that support municipal disaster response decisions. The trial will evaluate AI assistance for information aggregation and recommending courses of action to local officials during crises, while preserving human responsibility for final decisions. The partners plan to use results to improve disaster resilience across the participating municipalities and refine protocols for AI use in emergency management.
