First Banana Harvest at Ōgusu Banana Orchard in Nagasaka

The first banana harvest took place in late August at the Ōgusu Banana Orchard on a hill in Nagasaka, Yokosuka. The grower is a resident of Akiya, Yokosuka, known as a “banana artist” who creates banana-themed ceramics. The orchard is planted with Cavendish and other varieties that were trialed in the local microclimate, and the grower plans to continue cultivating bananas and promoting them through art and events.
