Momoko Akiyama, who placed sixth at the nationwide high school ekiden, says she simply loved running. As a first-year at Takatori Junior High, with no track team, she surprised observers by moving up 12 places in a relay after practicing informally with her father. Her evident talent shaped her choice of high school and continues to drive her desire to run for the enjoyment it brings.
