Why Does Liquefaction Occur? Demonstration Held at Chigasaki City Museum

An event explaining why liquefaction occurs took place on August 6 at Chigasaki City Museum, where visitors could easily experience and understand the phenomenon. The demonstration was part of the museum’s ongoing exhibition “ちがさき今昔-古相模川編-“ and aimed to illustrate earthquake-related soil behavior for the public. Visitors were given hands-on opportunities to see how saturated soil loses strength and behaves like a liquid under shaking. The program sought to raise awareness of local geological risks in an accessible way.
