Preparing for Intensifying Heavy Rainfall — Kanagawa Assemblyman Masato Nagai

Assemblyman 永井まさと (Masato Nagai) warned that in recent years intense short-duration localized heavy rains have become more frequent, causing major flooding such as the disaster in Chiba and recent severe rainfall in Kanagawa. He emphasized particular concern over rivers and called for strengthened flood defenses, improved disaster prevention measures, and better evacuation guidance for residents. Nagai urged prefectural and municipal governments to review infrastructure, warning systems, and land-use policies to reduce future risk.
