Firefighter Takegawa wins prefectural rope-bridge event, heads to national competition

Takegawa Koudai, a 26-year-old firefighter stationed at Kamakura Fire Department, Fukasawa Substation, took first place in the prefectural firefighting rescue skills competition in the rope-bridge event. The rope-bridge requires competitors to traverse a horizontal 20m rope back and forth, judged on safety, reliability, and time. The competition brings together firefighters from across the prefecture to demonstrate lifesaving techniques, emphasizing protecting the person in front and the surrounding area. Takegawa will represent the prefecture at the upcoming national tournament.
