Kamakura was certified as a Fair Trade Town about a year and a half ago, and local initiatives promoting ethical consumption have followed. Toshihito Sawado, a founding member of the promotion group Kamakura Ethical Lab, created the train’s wrapping design to help integrate ethical choices into everyday life. Sawado sees the project as a hub to connect people and encourages individuals to bring ethics into daily routines. He continues to be active in the community promoting awareness of fair trade and ethical practices.
