Spending their first J2 season in nine years, Shonan Bellmare returned to Hiratsuka after a 1-0 opening away win at Oita Trinita. In the second round home match against Montedio Yamagata, Shonan took the lead from a corner kick and held on with solid defending to win 1-0. The victory gave Shonan back-to-back wins to start the league season.
