The Yokosuka City Council’s council system review committee agreed on August 18 to reduce the council size from the current 39 members to 37. The committee reached consensus among the main factions on this policy. The move follows review work prompted by population decline trends noted in the 2025 March report by the former Yokosuka Mirai Conference. The council will proceed with steps to implement the reduction.
