Kiyoshi Mach, a 77-year-old resident of Fujisawa, has been appointed chair of the NPO SailAbility Enoshima. The group promotes the appeal of the sea by offering outings that let people experience waters a short distance offshore, about 100–200 meters. Their boats are designed to be hard to capsize so people of any age, gender, disability, or prior experience can enjoy the sea. Mach describes the attraction as being able to savor the offshore sea beyond the immediate coastline.
