Hiroaki Shinjo, 46, who lives in Nagasawa, Yokosuka, is the executive committee chair of the Miura Beach Art Festival. The festival aims to revitalize the town through art and counter recent setbacks after the 2024 cancellation of the Miura Beach bathing season for financial reasons. Local government and community leaders, concerned about regional decline, worked last year to restart cultural initiatives as a way to bring people back to the area.
