The Fujisawa Ukiyo-e Museum, which displays the city’s collection of ukiyo-e and local materials and draws visitors from inside and outside the city, opened in 2016 and has reached its 10th anniversary. Suzuki Yoshiaki, a 79-year-old resident of Honmachi, has served as a knowledgeable local guardian of the museum since its founding and currently chairs its operating committee. He emphasizes the museum’s role as a point of contact for protecting cultural properties and for connecting the public with Edo-period artwork and local history. The museum continues to attract audiences by exhibiting its municipal collections and promoting preservation of regional heritage.
