Yasuhiro Shibata, head of the surf therapy group Umigame Club (NPO The SCC Surf Therapy Japan) based in Yuigahama, supports children with disabilities and their families through sea-based activities. He was recognized with the Aloha Award, becoming the first Japanese person to receive it. The award highlights his work using surfing and the ocean to provide physical, emotional, and social support to participants and to raise awareness of inclusive recreational opportunities.
