Pet Heatstroke Risks: Officials Urge Vigilance on Temperature and Humidity

As extreme heat intensifies, Yokosuka City Fire Department reported 139 heatstroke ambulance transports between May and the first week of August. Officials say the heat wave affects pets as well as people and are calling for strengthened precautions, especially monitoring both temperature and humidity. They advise owners to avoid leaving animals in hot environments and to take measures such as providing shade, ventilation, and hydration to prevent heat-related illness.
