Yokosuka launches 24/7 AI listening service "AI-chan"

Yokosuka City began offering “Yokosuka AI Friend AI-chan,” a generative-AI-based listening consultation service, on July 31. The service provides around-the-clock empathetic listening to supplement traditional counseling windows and is intended to be available anytime and anywhere. City officials position it as an addition to existing support, not a replacement for human counselors, and it aims to improve access to immediate emotional support for residents.
