Kenchin-jiru from Kencho-ji in Kamakura named a '100-Year Food' by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs

Kenchin-jiru, believed to have originated at Kencho-ji temple in Kamakura’s Yamanouchi area, was recognized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in the ‘Traditional 100-Year Food’ category for dishes continuing since the Edo period. The dish also received the ‘Reiwa 7th Fiscal Year Special Expert Award.’ The designation highlights Kenchin-jiru’s cultural and historical importance as a local cuisine.
