Mako Irie, 33, who lives in Isshiki, Hayama Town, has risen to first place in the Japan Beach Tennis Federation’s domestic women’s rankings. The result followed her performance at the ITF BT50 Portimão event held in Portugal in June. Irie was featured in the paper’s personal profile column, and her new ranking marks a career milestone on the national beach tennis circuit.
